How to Create a Safety Objective

What is a Safety Objective?

A Safety Objective is an expression of leadership on how and when they will move the needle on safety. Publishing Safety Objectives allows all users to view them. This helps to foster engagement and demonstrates leadership's commitment to monitoring and improving safety.

Who can create a Safety Objective?

Anyone who is a Form Owner can create Safety Objectives.

How can I create a Safety Objective?

Safety Objectives can be created in the Safety Performance Monitoring feature.

Select Safety Performance under the Reports section.

From the main Safety Performance Monitoring page, click +New Safety Objective.

Enter the appropriate information for your Safety Objective.

    • Title: Title of Safety Objective
    • Published?: Toggle to "Yes" to publish Safety Objective to the Quick Risk Safety Profile (QRSP) for all users to view.
    • Description: Enter as much information in this area as you need. You can also include images and links.
    • Target Date: Set the date when the objective should be completed.
    • Target Value: Enter the value you wish to achieve.
      • Example: Reduce FOD events to less than 1 per 1000 flight hours. Target Value = 1

Save the objective now or continue below to attach the objective to an existing SPI. (SPI will need to be created before adding to a Safety Objective.)

      • SPI Type: Select the type of existing SPI to attach to your objective.
      • Select SPI: Select from the list of existing SPIs.

After saving, you should see your Safety Objective with the SPI graph. If published to the QRSP, it will appear under the Safety Performance Monitoring tab.
